[Important] Regarding inspection certificate when returning to Japan

When entering Japan, it is necessary to submit an inspection certificate (negative certificate) that meets the requirements set by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to the quarantine station.

In Cambodia, we have coordinated the issuance of inspection certificates for travel to Japan with the following two institutions, and have already confirmed that the certificates issued by both institutions can be used for travel without problems.
If you need an inspection certificate for your future trip to Japan, we recommend that you obtain it through these two institutions. Please be sure to inform them that you need a certificate to travel to Japan when you make an appointment with a laboratory and collect a sample.

The Pasteur Institute has obtained consent to issue a certificate in a format specified by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, so be sure to inform them that you need a certificate to travel to Japan when you make an appointment.

Walk-in testing is available. However, there might a case that you may be asked to make an appointment in advanced depending on the congestion situation, so we recommend that you make an appointment in advance as much as possible.

● Certificate form
The inspection certificate issued by the National Institute of Health is not in the format specified by the Government of Japan, but in the format specified by the Institute.

At the check-in counter at Phnom Penh Airport or the quarantine station in Japan, in case they indicate the missing of a word “SWAB” of “Nasopharyngeal SWAB” which should be included in the negative certificate, please inform them that the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia already confirmed, and even without the word “SWAB” written, it is approved as a VALID negative certificate by Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan.
● Inspection certificates issued by institutions other than the above institutions
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare considers a certificate to be valid regardless of the format if the requirements shown on the following page are met. So even if the certificate is issued by other institutions, as long as above conditions are met, it will be valid when entering Japan.

The validity of individual certificates cannot be determined each time by the embassy. If you wish to obtain a certificate other than the above two institutions, please inquire Quarantine Station,Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in Japan.
