![]() Welcome to the Homepage of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia. My name is Katsuhiro SHINOHARA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia. This is my fourth mission to Cambodia, having arrived for the first time in 1967. Since that time until now, Cambodia has experienced a series of unprecedented hardships, the most renowned of which have been the longstanding civil war and the difficulties the country has experienced in national reconstruction. Over these past 40 years, I have consistently been involved in diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia, in various posts and positions. I have walked along with the people of Cambodia throughout this history of hardships and aspiration, and have helped strive for national reconstruction and a strengthened relationship between the two countries. Now, I am back in Cambodia again in a new position and am overwhelmed with happiness to see Cambodia rise up and become a stable nation, fluttering its wings towards a bright future. A relationship between the two countries is based on person-to-person exchanges. I will do my best to keep developing the relationship between Japan and Cambodia, with its history of exchange over several centuries, and to deepen mutual understanding between the people of both countries.
